Program Review, Trends Research and Strategic Recommendations
The City of Brampton engaged Bespoke to review and evaluate a citywide cultural planning initiative that was started in 2014, with the goal of putting the City’s cultural scene on the map. The Arts Walk of Fame celebrates talent from Brampton across the arts and culture and is also a destination located in an underused downtown core.
To effectively review this program, Bespoke immersed ourselves in the City of Brampton’s context to better understand the program, the cultural plan, the physical site as well as the placemaking opportunities that this program can offer within the community and beyond. We also reviewed cultural plans and policies, conducted comparable and best practice research across North America, held workshops and interviewed Inductees, artists, residents, business owners and city planners. We conducted a SWOT analysis to determine what elements of the program to keep, rework or eliminate.
Our work re-imagined the Art Walk of Fame and considered how the program could better position the City of Brampton as a vibrant, diverse and growing urban hub. Throughout this process, Bespoke ensured alignment with Brampton’s Vision 2040 and Culture Master
Plan. Our work concluded with recommendations on how to reframe the program, from an updated vision and new delivery model through to an in-depth implementation plan and reallocated budget. Our aim was to reposition an outdated model into a leading edge, sustainable, and aligned with the wider strategic goals of the city.
