Cultural Planning and Roadmap

Research in arts in health is a growing international field that is building evidence around how the arts can improve overall health and well-being. In March 2019, Sinai Health engaged Bespoke through a competitive process to develop a vision, plan, roadmap and a series of recommendations for the Drake Arts in Health Program. This newly established program has ambitions to create new expressive arts opportunities for patients within the Sinai community, made possible by a generous donation by Jeff Stober, founder and owner of the Drake Hotel in Toronto. Bespoke’s role was to create the strategic foundations for an innovative and meaningful arts program.

Following an in-depth research process, we developed a vision for the program that is aimed at warming the hearts of patients and improving wellbeing by connecting them to the arts in unexpected and uplifting ways within the hospital environment. We proposed that the program find new ways for the arts to touch the lives of as many patients as possible who walk through the hospital’s doors, and to enliven existing common spaces and infrastructure. With a strong vision in place we worked with the Sinai Health team on a three-year roadmap and program budget to ensure that the delivery of the program is well supported within the hospital.
